UNITED STATES PACIFIC FLEET
FLAGSHIP OF THE COMMANDER SUBRON EIGHT
Date: October 1, 1941
From: Commander-SubRon-Eight
To: All Subron Eight Commanders
Subject: Standing Orders Effective 10/31/41
Primary Missions:
-
To organize, train and, concurrently with execution of the expansion program,
to continue development of doctrine and tactics, in order to, provide an
efficient Submarine Observation and Attack Force for independent
operations or operations coordinated with other forces.
-
To conduct patrols in areas and at times prescribed by the Commander-in-Chief,
United States Fleet, in order to, improve security of Fleet units and bases.
No later than 10/31/41 the submarines of SubRon eight will proceed to Submarine Base Manila P.I.
-
If you have not already done so you should review the
Rules of Engagement
for PTC-VII on the official
SubSoWesPac.org Web site. Some items of note.
a) Patrol Reports will be sent to the SubRon CO, SubRon XO and ComSubPac.
b) ECOPTC encoding will be optional and only used for "radio
communications". Orders will be
forwarded in plain text.
c) Ship limit restrictions will be enforced. Thus each
SubRon can only receive credit for sinking each jap capital
ship one time. The SubRon XO will send and updated list at the
beginning of each cycle. I will also have a copy of the current list available
on this web site. These can not be sunk if encountered. I will leave it
to the submarine CO's discretion on how to deal with these phantoms while
on patrol.
-
I will be updating the web page for Subron Eight PTC VII in the next couple of
days.
You will be notified as soon as it is available for proofreading . Any and all idea's and suggestions
for the web page are greatly appreciated.
